Core Outdoor Survival Tools Kit

No outdoor survival can be completed without the right equipment to get you going. Whether it's a survival knife, emergency medicine, or sleeping bag, you'll need a few tools to help you survive the outdoors, there are some basic tools that complete a survival kit.

Lighter – These could be flint and steel matches or explosives, but the goal is to need something that will help you light a fire outdoors. Fire can not only protect you from the weather, but it can also help you cook and clean water. This is a must-have tool in every survival gear kit.

First aid – Bandages and medication can be of great help during an outdoor survival program. You never know when something goes wrong, and although you may not be able to take care of the emergency, you can narrow the problem until adequate medical care will arrive. Antihistamines are very important in treating insect bites.

Survival knife – This is the most important tool of all. Even in its most advanced state, a knife is just a metal knife that you can use to cut branches, open cans, peel meat, etc. Survivors have been known to carry one or two knives, for long periods of time.

Blankets and tents – It can be cold and wet outdoors, so a waterproof blanket or tent is essential. Blankets can also play a role in first aid, providing warmth to victims who may be injured or sick. They provide you shade, and they can protect you from rain. Tents are also a form of protection against insects such as mosquitoes and others.

Tracking device – There may be a useful map and compass, or just a GPS device. So if you are a beginner, it is best to have a GPS device in your survival kit. Advanced users can rely on a compass and map to navigate their terrain.
